Radial Tunnel Syndrome & Pin Syndrome

چکیده
The subsequent edema can lead to fibrosis, which increases further pressure on the nerve, leading to a progressive deterioration of the nerve. In addition to the mechanical effects, an increase in connective tissue has been hypothesized to cause secondary changes in the mechanical sensitivity of the thin afferent fibers responsible for pain. Finally, compression may also produce local intraneural sprouting and neuroma formation.

Aberrant Radial Artery Causing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Anatomical vascular variations are rare causes of carpal tunnel syndrome. An aberrant medial artery is the most common vascular variation, while an aberrant radial artery causing carpal tunnel syndrome is even more rare, with an incidence ranging less than 3%. This article reports a patient with compression of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel by an aberrant superficial branch of the radi...
متن کاملRadial Tunnel Syndrome, Diagnostic and Treatment Dilemma
Radial tunnel syndrome is a disease which we should consider it in elbow and forearm pains. It is diagnosed with lateral elbow and dorsal forearm pain may radiate to the wrist and dorsum of the fingers. The disease is more prevalent in women with the age of 30 to 50 years old. It occurs by intermittent compression on the radial nerve from the radial head to the inferior border of the supinator ...
متن کاملCompression neuropathies of the radial nerve
The commonest cause of radial nerve dysfunction is from extrinsic compressions of the radial nerve, such as against the shaft of the humerus in “Saturday night palsy”. However, this chapter focuses on the less common intrinsic compression neuropathies of the radial nerve. Intrinsic radial nerve compression neuropathies occur much less frequently than those of the median or ulnar nerves. The com...
متن کاملAnatomic Landmarks for the Radial Tunnel
BACKGROUND The posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) can be difficult to locate within the radial tunnel. The deep branch of the radial nerve (DBRN) enters the supinator muscle after passing under the arcade of Fröhse. It courses through the superficial portion of the supinator muscle to exit distally as the PIN. Anatomic landmarks could facilitate diagnosis and treatment of radial tunnel syndrome...
متن کاملA prospective study of a modified pin-in-plaster technique for treatment of fractures of the distal radius
OBJECTIVES There are various pin-in-plaster methods for treating fractures of the distal radius. The purpose of this study is to introduce a modified technique of 'pin in plaster'. METHODS Fifty-four patients with fractures of the distal radius were followed for one year post-operatively. Patients were excluded if they had type B fractures according to AO classification, multiple injuries or ...
